Rediscovering Liverpool

Hello from Liverpool, England!

Wow, what a fantastic summer I had in Leeds! Now that I've moved over to Liverpool, I'm loving the fresh change of scenery. My Airbnb here is quite unique compared to the ones I've stayed in before. It has a total of five rooms, usually occupied by people from all corners of the globe. I've had some wonderful conversations and, all in all, my stay here has been really upbeat and enjoyable.

It takes just around 10 minutes to walk over to Hope Street, a lively and historically rich street brimming with a charming blend of Georgian and Victorian architecture. This street is a hub of creativity, home to the famous Everyman Playhouse, delightful art galleries, and an array of inviting restaurants. It's a spot where the past, culture, and the arts all come together seamlessly. Then, another enjoyable 10-minute walk takes me to the City Centre, and of course, my favorite gym! No need for a bus ride here. I'm definitely getting the hang of navigating this awesome city, and it's making me feel much more at ease. 😊

Liverpool Cathedral

Liverpool Cathedral, or the Cathedral Church of Christ, is right in my backyard and just a short walk away from my Airbnb. It's an absolutely breathtaking architectural masterpiece that I couldn't resist visiting. This cathedral is among the largest in the world and holds immense spiritual significance. The Gothic design is truly awe-inspiring, with its majestic towers and intricate details. When you step inside, you see stunning stained glass windows, intricate woodwork, and a peaceful atmosphere that encourages deep reflection and contemplation. Liverpool Cathedral not only serves as a symbol of faith but also stands as a proud testament to human creativity. It's not just a place of worship but a beloved landmark that showcases the richness of Liverpool's cultural heritage.

The Radio City Tower

Can you believe this used to be a ventilation shaft? Yes! In the 1960s it was transformed into the Radio City Tower, also known as St. John's Beacon. It’s a remarkable landmark gracing the skyline of Liverpool, standing tall and proud and visible from all over the city. This iconic structure is a testament to Liverpools rich broadcasting history.

A quick elevator ride takes you up over 400 feet for an awe-inspiring, sweeping view of the city from its observation deck. The Radio City Tower not only serves as a transmitter of radio signals but also serves as the headquarters for Radio City Breakfast with Leanne & Scott, broadcasting live from Liverpool to the entire North West region.

Mersey Ferries River Cruise

One bright, sunny morning I set out to take a Mersey Ferry River Cruise - a pleasant journey along the iconic River Mersey. You learn about the city's rich maritime history while gazing at stunning waterfront views. During the cruise, you glide past world-renowned landmarks like the Liver Building and the historic docks, while knowledgeable guides provide fascinating insights into Liverpool's maritime heritage, the Beatles' legacy, and the city's vibrant culture. It only takes about 45 minutes, but well worth it!

Finally...

My time in the UK has reached a little break, and it's safe to say it's been an absolute blast! But now, I'm gearing up for a travel adventure that's been a long time coming - diving into a country brimming with history, and it's a first for me!

Getting there isn't your run-of-the-mill journey. I'm jetting off from Manchester, UK, making a pit stop in Vienna, Austria, and then on to Albania. Two relatively short, two-hour flights, but trust me, the logistics are keeping me on my toes!

My first destination is Durres, Albania - a charming port city nestled on the shimmering Adriatic Sea. If the pictures are any indication, my Airbnb is a high-rise gem with a stunning view of the city. Fingers crossed the pictures live up to the real deal! After that, in November, I'll be making my way up to the capital city, Tirana. I'm very excited for this upcoming journey!

I really appreciate those who have been reading this blog. Thanks for following along!
